Music Project

Introduction:
My created question will address- 'The Battle Of Music Equality'.
-How sexes have been treated differently and how they have changed the world of music for new acts.
-How the progression of music changed from influential artists, and how?

For my music project I am going to be researching into how men and women presented differently to each other in music industry. I am going to look into different types of music, focusing on Rock and RnB, looking at music videos, lyrics and the progression of the music industries image. I have chosen this as I feel that women have a much harder time breaking into the industry and have made a bad image for themselves by using the 'sex appeal'. I find it interesting to find out how the music has changed by influential women and men and how it is today, as it's a relevant topic at this time. This topic was important to me as I feel that its a gender competition, and many male acts use misogyny in their songs and women are use as 'objects' in many music videos. I am also using this as my topic, as there is a large amount of content which covers all eras. I hope to find out why this is acceptable, and how female artists have used their sex appeal to show their talent and to rise their popularity. I believe I will find very stereotypical views and how music is related to peoples images. These artists say they look up to people such as, Aretha Franklin, Tracey Chapman, and Kate Bush but artists now find it ok to exploit their sexuality just to 'look good'. I also aim to include feminism in music and go into detail of the retaliation of the sexes almost battling out to win. My research is going to be the most important aspect of this project and will broaden my outcome.

I am going to create a questionnaire covering these topics:
- The rock industry favouring men
- Influential women
- Feminist and misogyny
- Artists image created by their music
